TOWER REPAIRS

Our church was completed in 1678. It’s Grade l l* and one of the three medieval Christian foundations still existing in Nottingham today.

In 2023 it was found that repairs needed to be made to the tower and this was made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are able to repair the tower masonry and make the roof water-tight. Work started in April 2024, and is due to be completed in July 2024.

As part of the repairs we will be running a heritage workshop about historic people associated with St Nic’s!

Rebecca graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a first class honours degree in building surveying. She went on to become a freelance heritage consultant in the Midlands, working for both councils and homeowners to advise on and ensure prospective development aligns with heritage and conservation principles. Her favourite aspect of her job is researching the historical significance of listed buildings, often becoming engrossed in the lives of many generations of former inhabitants. She also has a keen interest in sustainability of the built environment and how this can be promoted in the care of heritage buildings. Outside of work, her main passion is travel, having travelled to 60 countries in six continents, and has recently competed in a race across Europe using only public transport, visiting 19 countries in one week! Rebecca is thrilled to be facilitating the People of St Nic’s heritage workshop in July.
