St Nic's: Living on the edge with Jesus

Children’s Work at St Nic’s

Ablaze is our Sunday morning children’s work where we come together to have fun learning about God. The children start the morning in church with their families and then move down into the church centre where the 3–11 year olds gather together for songs and games before splitting down into smaller teaching groups: Sparks 3–5yrs, Ignite 6–8yrs, Inferno 9–11yrs. A crèche also runs for the under 3s.

Ablaze Praise happens once a month when all the children’s groups come together to meet during the service. We have games, talks, puppets, drama sketches and lots more to help us learn about God. We also spend time praising God through song, led by our own children’s band Joyful Noise. The younger children (3 years and below) meet together for Crèche Praise Sunday in the lower lounge.

Power Source is our group for 8–11 year olds. We meet every Monday evening from 6.30–7.45pm. The group meets in homes in West Bridgford and Wollaton. We work on a fortnightly basis of social time one week and cell the next. In the cell sessions we use the “4 W”s (welcome, worship, word, and witness) to help us learn and spend time with God.

Sparklers is our group for parents with preschool children. We meet together fortnightly on a Friday afternoon 2–4pm at St Mary’s church hall, Wollaton Park. The afternoon is a mixture of free play, crafts, songs and stories for the children with space for parents to socialise and support each other.

Once a year we also run a Holiday Club and a 8–11 years Weekend Away.
