St Nic's: Living on the edge with Jesus

Hippy Girl’s Bible Study Reviews

Closer to God

If you want to see God move in your life then Closer to God is one of the Bible study notes for you.

There are usually three sections to the Bible studies:

Writers include Terry Virgo, Mike Pilavachi, Jennifer Rees-Larcombe, Peter Hughes and loads more.

Easy system of readings, so if you miss the odd day you won’t get behind, great for me!

Explore

Explore is written by people (not Scottish though don’t worry) with a passion for getting the Bible into people’s lives. Each issue contains three months of daily readings and ideas for prayer and application. It is easy to understand and it displays clearly the message and challenge of God’s word, suggested 15 minutes of study a day.

Ignite

Ignite are Bible studies for all levels of Christian maturity, very youth orientated, it deals with topics such as bullying and drugs, great isn’t it! At the beginning there is an intro and questions that you have to explore in the Bible passage.

Encounter with God

At first glance it looks like the Bible notes are for older people; however, if you take time to read them they are actually very interesting – they are more challenging than the average. But I think that you could get a lot out of them. The notes give tips on how to do the bible study, for example ‘Read this passage as you might enter an art gallery, eager to view what’s on show. You won’t be disappointed’. Give it a go!

Air Lock

I just love the cover of this one (and lots more, of course, just nice to look at!)! This is the blurb on the back: “Fed up of the same old Bible reading material? Then look no further! Airlock is brand new series of Bible reading guides. Each book provides three months worth of undated, themed Bible readings designed to challenge you and deepen your relationship with God.”

These readings cover possibly every topic you can imagine – mercy, intimidation, persecution, paganism, betrayal, road rage, the list goes on. I really recommend this one, I, myself, as a young person (!) can relate to it.
