St Nic's: Living on the edge with Jesus

" First of all, the thing that sticks out in my memory is God’s faithfulness in answering prayer. Most of the schools we went to weren’t expecting us but the principals were so willing to let us go into their schools and share the gospel. Some days we’d get to a school and the principal wouldn’t be too keen to let us teach, but within about 10 minutes we’d see a total change in their attitude and find ourselves been given entire grades to teach and assemblies to do in front of the whole school. Seeing the Holy Spirit working within these principals and changing their hearts right in front of our eyes was amazing.

One day we turned up to a school whose principal thought we were coming a month earlier, but it turned out that the day we turned up they had already set aside for an AIDS awareness day so they were very happy to let us go and teach classes on STDs and teach about God and to do an assembly in front of the whole school — it was so clear that God had prepared these schools for us in advance.

Also, once we were in the lessons and teaching, it was so obvious that God had got there before us because most of the kids we taught were so ready to hear His Word and had so many questions at the end of the lessons. Before going to Namibia I think I really underestimated the power of prayer — I mean I believed it worked but never really understood how powerful and important it was in changing lives.

The faith of the Namibians is amazing. Most of the Namibians I talked to had amazing testimonies of how they had come to Christ. Most of them had only been Christians for a few years but their knowledge of the scriptures and their faith in God and the joy they conveyed as they lived out their faith really challenged me and showed just how much I lack in these three areas. "
