St Nic's: Living on the edge with Jesus

Go!

This was one of the last words Jesus told the disciples before he went back home. Mission and evangelism are really important because it is doing what God told us to do. His intention is to use us to bring others to himself.

It is really hard doing it at home in your neighbourhood or school. That is why it is really great to go somewhere else and give it a go.

The other awesome thing about doing mission and evangelism is that you grow loads. I know in my own life that I have grown loads closer to God and become more like him through doing mission. Over the past eight years we have taken loads of young people on mission trips like Germany and Namibia and they have got tons out of it and for many it has changed their lives and strengthened their relationship with God. It has been amazing to spend time with some of the guys when they have gone on organised trips with organisation and hear all the incredible stories but more importantly witness the growth in that person’s life.

So summer ’09 – have a think about doing a mission trip. Maybe sign up as a small groups of friends or go by yourself. There are hundreds of opportunities out there to go overseas with mission agencies for two to three weeks or even more. Would it not be incredible if twenty or thirty young people from Passionate and St Nic’s went to different parts of the UK and others parts of the world? Imagine what God would do in our lives and what impact it would have on our lives individually and as a group.

For most overseas trips you need to be over sixteen but there are some organisations that take you when you are younger.

But you don’t have to go overseas – there are plenty of opportunities to do stuff here in the UK. And it is a lot cheaper.

At St Nic’s we have a special fund set up to help support people financially that do short term missions.

Have a think and pray. Check out the linked web sites and let’s go during summer ’09 and make a difference in this world for God.

These are only a few of hundreds that are out there. If you need any help or advice please just ask.
