Secondary Schools Work
At St Nic’s we have three youth staff – the Youth Pastor,
Schools and Youth Worker and Trainee Youth and Schools Worker. We have been
involved in working in secondary schools for just over 3 years now. There are
several youth workers in the city and we jointly run “Showcase
Clubs”. These are action–packed lunchtime clubs that are and aimed
at unchurched young people. We run the clubs in nine schools across the
city.
We are involved in the Nottingham Bluecoat School, High School for Boys and
Margaret Glen Bott. We run the lunch clubs, take assemblies and lessons and
hang around the schools building relationships with the young people. The aim
of our work is to be a positive Christian influence in the schools.
Another strand to our schools work is that we are working in partnership
with other youth workers and tha Oasis Trust by providing quality Sex and
Relationships lessons. This has just started up and we have a huge demand for
the lessons in the schools we work in.
